September 2012 was sunnier and drier than usual in Holland but it was also coller than normal. We missed out on an extended Indian Summer this year, partly due to the fact that we had a much better August than normal. This photo was from a very warm Sunday when we went for a lovely cycle ride through the countryside around the Vecht and Loosdrecht. The cows were keeping themselves cool by standing in the ditches.

The fifth general election in Holland in ten years

The red for the Socialist Party and the Labour Party. The election campaign started with the Socialist Party leading in the polls but their leader, Emile Roemer, has performed very badly in the television debates. On the other hand, the Social Democratic Labour Party have seen a renaissance under their new eleader Diederick Samson and there is a good chance that this can be the biggest party and that we will have a new Prime Minister very soon. I hope so!
